theatre_banner_blue.png

Beosound/Beovision Theatre supports up to 20 external speakers:

  • Up to 8 Bang & Olufsen loudspeakers via Power Link
  • Up to 8 Bang & Olufsen loudspeakers via Wireless Power Link
  • Up to 4 Mozart Platform™ speakers connected via Digital Power Link (wireless or wired)*

All of the above connections can be mixed, e.g. you can connect two speakers using Power Link and 4 speakers using Digital Power Link and include them in a Listening Position.

*From software 4.1.1

Creating Listening Positions with external speakers

Before creating Listening Positions, you must define which speakers are connected to the system.
Navigate to Sound > Connected speakers.

Configuration of the different connections is described below.

Digital Power Link

Digital Power Link (DPL) is the technology that enables Beolink Surround and Beolink Stereo.

DPL is a network-based audio streaming protocol developed by Bang & Olufsen. When using DPL, a Mozart Platform™ soundbar or TV will be able to connect to Mozart Platform™ speakers for an immersive, high-quality surround sound experience.

  1. Select Digital Power Link in Connected speakers
  2. All compatible speakers will be shown
    • The speaker(s) must be:
      • based on the Mozart Platform™
      • added to your Bang & Olufsen account
      • connected to your network
    • If your speakers have been used in a Beolink Stereo setup previously, the speaker pair must be separated in order to appear in the list.
    • If your speakers previously has been set up using Wireless Power Link or Power Link, it is important that this connection is removed before setting up Digital Power Link.

Power Link

Power Link secures a high-quality analogue connection between Beosound/Beovision Theatre and a Beolab speaker. A Power Link cable includes up to two channels of audio, allowing you to daisy-chain two speakers, a trigger voltage to switch the speaker(s) on and off with the TV, and Power Link data (for compatible speakers).

  1. Select Add speaker in the Power Link section in Connected speakers
  2. Beosound/Beovision Theatre will show a number of + symbols corresponding to the number of Power Link sockets used.
  3. Tap a + symbol.
This is where we define the connected speakers. It does not matter which speaker is connected to which socket; this is simply to specify which speakers are connected.
