When Beosound A5 is battery-operated, it will automatically enter standby to preserve battery. The standby mode depends on the time elapsed since a source was last active.
Networked standby
Beosound A5 enters networked standby mode after being paused for three minutes, or if a Standby command is sent from the Bang & Olufsen app or a paired remote. It remains accessible on the network, and playback can be started/resumed from e.g. a smartphone or using the buttons on the top of the speaker.
A fully charged battery lasts a minimum of 24 hours in Networked Standby mode (when "Automatic standby" is disabled).
Sleep mode Beosound A5 enters sleep mode after 90 minutes (when battery-operated)* or after pressing the power button for two seconds.
*Can be disabled by deactivating the Automatic standby setting in the Bang & Olufsen app. A fully charged battery lasts a minimum of 7 days in Sleep mode.

Storage mode
Disconnect the charging cable from the speaker. Press and hold the power button for approximately eight seconds.
You will hear two beeps followed by one beep to confirm the storage mode setting.
The speaker will enter storage mode, consuming no power, and battery capacity only diminishing by self-discharging. To switch Beosound A5 on again, connect it to the power supply.
A fully charged battery lasts a minimum of 1 year in Storage mode.
While sleep mode is ideal when you are using your speaker on a weekly basis, storage mode is useful when you plan to not use it for a longer period of time.
