You may experience that when exceeding a certain volume on your speaker, the sound does not get louder.
It is important to note that the volume control is not an indicator of how loud the output will be. It’s an indicator of how much quieter or louder you’re making the input signal.
The volume limit will change according to how a song track is recorded; some tracks, often pop and rock music, are recorded at a very loud level but with limited dynamic range. Because the track is loud, this will limit how far you can increase the volume before the speaker reaches its physical limits.
Of course, this limit is also defined by the speaker’s capability. In a multiroom setting, we want our speakers to play equally loud when set to a specific volume level. But if you have large speakers in one room and a small speaker in another room, and you increase the volume in both rooms, the small speaker may reach its maximum capability at e.g. volume level 65, while the large speakers will continue to increase the volume level above that number. |
