What does Beam Width Control on Beolab 8 do?

beolab 8 banner.png

Beolab 8 offers the choice of two different beam widths: Narrow and wide. When selecting a beam width, the light indicators below the Bang & Olufsen logo will briefly show which has been selected.

Narrow mode
Designed for a listening experience in the sweet spot. The speaker drivers help each other to create a controlled narrow beam of sound towards the listener to reduce the amount of reflections from side walls. This enhances immersiveness and gets the music experience closer to what the artist intended.

Wide mode
Designed for a more passive listening experience, where you don't necessarily sit in the sweet spot, or where more people are enjoying the music together. Wide mode creates a controlled 180 degree spread of the sound.

The beam width can be selected through Sound modes in the Bang & Olufsen app or through Speaker groups when used with a Bang & Olufsen TV.
