I hear no sound when connecting my device to the Line-in socket on my Beoplay A9 3rd Gen, what can I do?

If you have started playback on the device connected to the Line-in socket on your Beoplay A9, and the volume is low, or there is no sound at all, it may be because your connected device has its own volume regulation.

Start by ensuring that the output volume of the connected device is turned up.

 

If you wish to use the connected device's volume regulation, it is possible to lock the volume controls to a specific value on Beoplay A9 when the Line-in source is active, using the Bang & Olufsen app.

Follow the steps below to lock the volume when using Line-in:

  1. Open the Bang & Olufsen app
  2. Tap the settings icon in the upper-right corner
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Tap "Products"
  5. Tap "Beoplay A9 3rd Gen"
  6. Tap "Configure"
  7. Tap "Sound"
  8. Set a checkmark in the "Fix sound level"-box.
    WARNING: Only do this if you are sure that your connected device has a volume-regulated output. Ensure that the volume of the connected device
    is turned down before enabling this setting.
  9. Adjust the fixed volume level to your preference.
  10. Press 'Change' to Save.

 

If the Line-in source is not automatically selected when starting playback on the connected device, you may need to change the input detection level.

  1. In the same menu as above, choose between:
    • High: For portable music players such as mobile phones
    • Medium: For standard audio equipment and computers
    • Low: For DVD/Blu-ray players.
  2. Press 'Change' to Save.
