How do I update my Beoplay A8 via my MAC/PC?

Follow the steps below to update software on Beoplay A8 using your Mac/PC:

1. Connect Beoplay A8 to your router with an Ethernet cable.
   
2. Make sure that your computer and Beoplay A8 are connected to the same network.
3. The network button  must be solid white. If the network button is switched off, press it shortly and wait approx. 2 minutes until it becomes solid white.
4. Find Beoplay A8 on your Mac/PC:
• MacOS:
  Find the IP-address of the Beoplay A8. We recommend using the app 'Fing' (iOS / Android). Open the Apple Safari browser and enter the IP-address.
  
  
• Windows 10:
  Click ‘Network’ in the bottom left-hand side of your screen and double-click on 'Beoplay A8 xxxxxxxx'*.
  If you cannot see your Beoplay A8, you must turn on sharing for the network you are connected to.
  
  
• Windows 8:
  >Point to the upper-right corner of the screen > move the mouse pointer down and then click ‘Search’  > click ‘Apps’, enter File Explorer in the search box and press Enter. Click ‘Network’ in the left pane and double-click on 'Beoplay A8 xxxxxxxx'*.
  If you cannot see your Beoplay A8, you must turn on sharing for the network you are connected to.
  
  
• Windows 7:
  > Right-click on 'Start' and click 'Open Windows Explorer' > click 'Network' (in the left pane) and double-click on 'Beoplay A8 xxxxxxxx'*.
  If network discovery is disabled, you must enable it to be able to see your Beoplay A8.
  
  
• Windows Vista:
  Right-click on 'Start' and click 'Explore' > click 'Network' (in the left pane) and double-click on 'Beoplay A8 xxxxxxxx'*.
  If network discovery is disabled, you must enable it to be able to see your Beoplay A8.
  
  
• Windows XP:
  > Right-click on 'Start' and click 'Explore' > click 'My Network Places' (in the left pane) and double-click on 'Beoplay A8 xxxxxxxx'*.
  If you cannot see your Beoplay A8, you must enable Windows to display HomeMedia (UPnP) devices.
5. Select the menu UPDATE PRODUCT SOFTWARE/NEW SOFTWARE AVAILABLE
6. Follow on-screen instructions for the software update. 

* 'XXXXXXXX' corresponds to the serial number of your Beoplay A8. If you have changed the name of your Beoplay A8, the name you have chosen is shown instead.  

Important! You may not be able to use your workplace computer to update the software on your Beoplay A8, due to security restrictions, including firewall settings and assignment of IP addresses.

Note that not all routers allow for software updates due to firewalls etc. The firewall must not block port 443 for HTTPS and port 123 for NTP. Contact your Internet service provider.
