Connecting a Beogram turntable ⬇
In order to play audio from a turntable on a Connected Audio speaker, the signals from the pickup need to be amplified. In some cases, an amplifier, often referred to as a pre-amplifier or a RIAA amplifier, is built into the chassis of the turntable.
To see examples of Beogram turntables that include a built-in pre-amplifier, click here.
If your turntable includes a built-in pre-amplifier, use a female DIN to male 3.5 mm jack adapter* to connect directly to the Connected Audio speaker, provided it has a Line-in connection. Beogram 4000c includes a variety of adapters (5-pin DIN / 3.5 mm jack / RCA), making it easy to connect to any supported speaker. |
If your turntable does not include a built-in pre-amplifier, an MM-compatible (moving magnet) pre-amplifier is required between the turntable and the Connected Audio speaker.
We recommend using a pre-amplifier that supports the same connection plug as the output on the turntable to avoid affecting the un-amplified signal.
Most Beogram turntables use a 5- or 7-pin male DIN connector.
Connecting a turntable to Beolab speakers
If you wish to connect a turntable to a Beolab speaker without built-in sources, such as Beolab 18, you must connect the turntable through a Beosound/Beoconnect Core in order to control the volume. The principles for the pre-amplifier mentioned above still apply.
Line-in sensitivity
When connecting a turntable to a Connected Audio speaker, line-in sense is used to detect if the turntable is playing. Depending on your equipment, you may need to modify the sensitivity, e.g. if Line-in is activated without the turntable playing.

Beogram 1000VF
Beogram 3500

Beogram 6500
Beogram 7000

Connecting a CD player ⬇
Most legacy Bang & Olufsen CD players are intended to be included in a system, e.g. to a Beomaster unit, and, therefore, lack buttons for close-up operation. If you have such a system that you wish to connect to a Connected Audio product, please select "Connecting a sound system" below.
To connect a 3rd party CD player, use one of the following options:
Analogue:
Most 3rd party CD players include a stereo RCA Line output. Use a stereo male RCA to male 3.5 mm jack adaptor* to connect directly to the Connected Audio speaker, provided it has a Line-in connection. |
Digital:
If the CD player includes an optical output, you can connect to a compatible Connected Audio speaker using a male optical JIS F05 to mini-plug adapter. Note! Not all Connected Audio products support optical Line input. |

Connecting a Beosound audio system ⬇
Connecting a Bang & Olufsen audio system, e.g. Beosound 3000 or Ouverture, will allow you to play all the sources from the sound system on the Connected Audio product.
Please note that the audio system cannot be controlled from the Bang & Olufsen app or Connected Audio product, it will have to be controlled either via the physical controls on the sound system or using a separate remote control, like Beo4. Volume control will be handled by the Connected Audio product.
To connect a Bang & Olufsen audio system, use one of the following options:
Bang & Olufsen audio systems with stereo RCA Line output:
Use a stereo male RCA to male 3.5 mm jack adapter* to connect directly to the Connected Audio speaker, provided it has a Line-in connection. |
Bang & Olufsen audio systems with 7-pin DIN connection (AUX):
The DIN connector provides both Line-in and Line-out, and, therefore, normally requires 2 different adapters. Then connect a stereo male RCA to male 3.5 mm jack adapter* to the above-mentioned adapter (Line-out) and connect the 3.5 mm jack directly to the Connected Audio speaker (provided it has a Line-in connection). |
